About Middleburg, Virginia: Known as the nation's horse capital, Middleburg is a charming town set against the backdrop of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia. Established in 1787 by Virginia statesman John Leven Powell, Middleburg has a rich history. Middleburg has attracted many high-profile residents and visitors, including Elizabeth Taylor (owned a farm with then husband John Warner) and John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy (built Wexford, a home just outside Middleburg). One of the filming locations of Alfred Hitchcock's Marnie, with Sean Connery and Tippi Hedren, was filmed at the Red Fox Inn, in Middleburg.
