Presenting a rare original India ink & coloured wash salon drawing by the inimitable Rex Whistler (1905-1944) depicting Prince Augustus Frederick, Duke Of Sussex (1773-1843) 'tipsily' approaching Queen Victoria in a state room. To the left, Albert, Prince Consort playing chess. 

In a rococo cartouche manner topped by upper 'L&R' corner gouache crowns on exquisite pearl grey paper.

Published by Nash Magazine February-March 1937 as illustrations to 'The Court Circle' by Laurence Housman.

Thence the 2nd in the series of four.
