Maurice Denton Welch (29 March 1915 – 30 December 1948) was a British writer and painter, admired for his vivid prose and precise descriptions.

The complete and unabridged edition of Denton Welch's journals. Welch wrote the journals from 1942 until his early death in 1948. They are filled with honest accounts of his poor physical health and his creative labours, as well as many acerbic descriptions of his friends and acquaintances, including Edith Sitwell, Herbert Read and Vita Sackville-West. An abridged version of the journals was first published in 1952 but the mericless nature of Welch's pen meant much had to be omitted and it wasn't till thirty years later that the complete journals could be published.
