Third Edition (published previously in 1900 and 1904). Octavo, original blue cloth, silver lettering at spine and front cover, 112 pages, two photographic illustrations. Scarce French cocktail recipe book containing 327 cocktails and an early catalog of necessary utensils. The title is significant for Newman's influence on such famous barmen as Harry Craddock, for representing the epitome of the American craft of cocktails to a French audience, and for including in the 1904 edition, the first appearance of the Dry Martini. (distinct from earlier Martini recipes for replacing sweet vermouth with dry vermouth). The Dry Martini appears in this edition as well, but had been since printed in Louis Muckensturm's Mixed Drinks (1906). WorldCat finds one copy of the 1900 edition at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France and two copies of this 1907 printing (one at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France and the other at Bibliotheque interuniversitaire Sainte Genevieve), WorldCat lists no copies for the coveted 1904 printing.
